Drawn to Nature is run by artist and illustrator, Mirri Rowland, that’s me - hi! I love all things nature. Whether it’s a watercolor print for a gallery wall or a collectible enamel pin, I design pieces that I personally want to use and wear every day. When I’m not in my home studio, you can find me at markets across South London and Surrey, sharing my passion for nature with fellow enthusiasts
I've always been arty ever since I was a child - from drawing comics with my friends at primary school, to painting in the garden with my gran. If there was a spare moment I was doing some form of art
I consciously decided to focus on my practice in 2013, whilst I was travelling and living overseas, and began commission work. Then in 2020, I became full time, moved into products and establishing my brand
I predominantly work in watercolours and gouache paints, finishing pieces with pencil and fineliner pens for tiny details. I prefer to work on a smaller scale, using different techniques and effects to imply textures and shadows
My work is fueled by a deep rooted love for the natural world - from the hidden intricacies of fungi to the majestic patterns of nudibranches. I love love LOVE to discuss nature and share unique facts about the flora and fauna I study whilst painting. Come and have a nature chat with me at a market! I'm Croydon based, popping up at events across South London, Surrey & South England, as well as North and East a couple of times a year
